Dodgers Acquire Lance Lynn via Trade

The Dodgers have completed a trade with the Chicago White Sox for right-handed starting pitcher Lance Lynn. They’ll also get relief pitcher Joe Kelly. Chicago will get Nick Nastrini, Jordan Leasure (both in Double-A) and Trayce Thompson.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported the full trade via Twitter on Friday.

So far this year Lynn has 21 starts, going 6-9 with an ERA of 6.47, which would be the highest of career if it holds. He’s pitched 119.2 innings, allowing 130 hits, giving up 86 earned runs and 28 home runs (both of which are league highs to this point in the season).

Kelly has had 31 appearances in 2023, going 1-5 and racking up an ERA of 4.97. In 29 innings pitched, he’s amassed 41 strikeouts and 12 walks. Kelly has been a Dodger before, from 2019-2021. He won his second World Series with the team during that span.
