Finally, A Gameplay Trailer For The Dead Space Remake

Dead Space is getting a remake and it looks to be a faithful revisit to the sci-fi survival horror game.

Developed by Motive, the Dead Space remake is about “rebuilding the game from scratch and adding new content and modern enhancements into the mix- but never, ever betraying the original,” as stated in a recent blog post. This puts it firmly in the “faithful remake” as we like to call it here.

This new gameplay trailer is the first bits of gameplay presented as a marketing trailer, not just bits and pieces behind-the-scenes which Motive have been actively sharing since the teaser reveal last year.

The Dead Space trailer should be no surprise to fans of the original game by the now-defunct Visceral Games. We see engineer Isaac Clarke going on board the USG Ishimura only to discover what’s left of the folks on there. If they’re not dead, they are making anybody they see dead as grotesque monstrosities- the Necromorph.

A lot of the facets of the Ishimura, look familiar but with more detail. And so is Isaac, who has a voice here unlike the original game- he gets a voice by Dead Space 2 onwards.

We see some zero-G moments (where everything goes silent in the vacuum), Isaac using the Plasma Cutter to cut off limbs (while the violin in the soundtrack screams off notes to reflect the tension) and a teaser of the cult-like people that may or may not be associated with the horrors that are happening.

Dead Space, the remake, will be out on January 27, 2023 for the PS5, PC and Xbox Series X|S. After Dead Space, Motive will be working on an Iron Man game.
