NFL Betting Odds & Predictions for Week 7 → Packers – Commanders

The Green Bay Packers started 2022 by taking a bad loss in Minnesota, but then they looked like they had figured things out with wins over Chicago, Tampa Bay and New England. However, a loss in London to the Giants saw the Packers give up an uncharacteristic comeback drive, and then an emphatic loss at home to the New York Jets revealed a number of concerns about the Green Bay offense – and defense. Next up is a trip to Washington to face the Commanders, who have posted a record of just 2-4 and who are likely to see their struggled worsen, as starting quarterback Carson Wentz is done for at least 4-6 weeks after breaking the ring finger on his throwing hand. Taylor Heinicke is set to start at quarterback against Green Bay, and the team also added Jake Fromm, who played at Georgia and most recently was with the Giants, as a backup. Read on to find our sports betting prediction for this NFC clash.

Why should you bet on the Packers?

The Packers look as scattered as they have under Matt LaFleur’s leadership. The offense cannot keep drives going without Aaron Rodgers making miraculous throws, as the wide receivers struggle to generate separation. This was particularly true on Sunday – and Randall Cobb is projected to be out against Washington. Even with Aaron Dillon and Aaron Jones running the ball, the Packers could not sustain drives – and while the Jets have improved on defense, they are not an elite team yet.

The special teams were also a problem for Green Bay, as the Jets blocked a punt and a field goal, and took the punt block back for a touchdown. Normally, when Rodgers comes to a postgame press conference and suggests that everyone relax, people listen, but this game was more difficult to allow to fade from memory. In their last 16 games against NFC opponents, the Packers have covered 11 times, and they are playing a team with a backup quarterback. However, Heinicke has experience starting in the playoffs and has led Washington to big wins in the past.

Why should you put your money on the Commanders?

Washington ended a four-game skid last week, beating Chicago, 12-7. The Commanders were trailing, 7-3, going into the fourth period, but they got a touchdown run from Brian Robinson, who carried the ball 17 times on the day for 60 yards. Carson Wentz threw for just 99 yards, as the Commanders struggled to move the ball. Wentz’s shoulder injury opens the door for Taylor Heinicke, who got a chance as the starter last season and had mixed results at best.

Washington did cover last week, and they are 5-2 against the spread in a game coming after a win against the spread. However, they have only covered once in their last five games. If you like Washington, you see the Packers’ offense continuing to struggle moving the ball – and Washington having the ability to score without Wentz.

Final Score and Prediction

Washington’s ball security should be slightly better without Wentz there to throw backbreaking interceptions, but they will also be easier to corral in terms of plays down the field. As Washington’s defense wearies, the Packers should be able to control the rhythm with the running game and mix in some big pass plays. I predict a final score of Green Bay 30, Washington 13.
