Single Player Apex Legends Game Reportedly In The Works At Respawn

Respawn Entertainment is reportedly developing a new single-player first-person shooter set in the same universe as Apex Legends.

The news comes from a job listing found on the Respawn Entertainment website (via Dexerto), as the developers are currently searching for a Senior Engine/Systems Engineer to join the team. According to the advertisement, the successful applicant will be working to design, build, and maintain technology that enables the team to create engaging gameplay and fantastic experiences.

Respawn’s job description advertises the role as an “Apex Universe FPS Incubation Title”, but exact details on what the game could be about is currently unknown.

Back in July of last year, Respawn announced they were hiring developers to assist in the creation of a new “single-player adventure”. Whether or not this advertisement is for the same title is currently unknown. But with Apex Legends being one of Respawn’s most successful games, it would come as no surprise that the team intends to continue the success of the Battle Royale.

Respawn also recently revealed the next chapter in Cal Kestis’ story with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which is currently set to release sometime in 2023. Although Respawn is well known for creating some of the most riveting singe player titles around, such as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, and more, a ‘single-player Apex Legends’ game technically already exists.

Apex Legends, as many fans will likely be well aware, is set in the same universe as Titanfall, Respawn’s 2014 futuristic FPS title. Although the new IP received huge praise from critics and fans, even spawning a sequel in 2016, it didn’t take long for the game to be abandoned by players and the developers.

But when Apex Legends was released in 2019, it went on to become one of the biggest Battle Royale titles around. Whether or not a new single-player game in the same universe would be as much of a success is unknown.
