Horror Fishing Game Dredge Releasing In 2023

Some folks might find the act of fishing itself is a horror experience in video games, but a fishing game (sort of) with horror elements? That’s intriguing, and that’s what Black Salt Games is making with their debut game Dredge.

In Dredge, you captain a fishing trawler where you can explore remote isles of The Marrows and catch fish using your available equipment. Once your trawler is full, you can bring the haul back to land and sell them to the locals that will buy them and share local knowledge.

However, there is something more than fish that lurks under the sea. There’s a mystery here for you to discover, and it’s not a pleasant one. And you can “strengthen your mind and use special abilities to survive trips out on the water after dark” which sounds… ominous.

Looking at the trailer, Dredge could just be a pleasant game about fishing boats catching fish with its artstyle. But then the tentacles come in.

Dredge is being published by Team17. It will be released in 2023 for the PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
