Niko joining G2 esports is the ‘Biggest Signing in esports history’ says the announcement. According to HLTV.org, FaZe Clan and G2 esports were in talks for nearly two months and the deal has finally come through for G2’s international CS:GO roster.

I’m really excited to announce that I will be joining @G2esports and I can’t explain how happy I’m that I will be playing with @G2huNter and rest of the guys from now on. I’m coming to this lineup with the goal to bring them back to the top and make sure to stay there. – NiKo.

NiKo will join the likes of Kenny “kennyS” Schrub and his cousin, huNter- on G2 esports, creating a lineup that should strike awe and fear in opponents and fans. NiKo was a part of FaZe Clan since 2017 and has helped FaZe win many tournaments including the EPICENTER 2018, IEM Sydney 2018, IEM new York 2020 Europe as well as multiple BLAST Pro Series events.

However, FaZe Clan’s inconsistencies and multiple roster changes obstructed their chances to become the best team in the world. Despite having some of the biggest names in CS:GO, FaZe Clan could not achieve its objectives in the game. It is still not clear what role NiKo will assume on G2 esports, although there is a high chance of the player returning to the rifler role which catapulted him to fame in his early career.

Who Will NiKo Replace?

G2’s announcement does not specify the exact changes to its CS:GO roster. The International squad has been very successful in recent months reaching the #1 rank in June this year.

G2 esports might follow in the footsteps of Astralis with a six-man roster according to the latest reports. Since they have not yet announced any replacement, it will be interesting to see which players get more play-time on the roster.

G2 will play FURIA in their next game of BLAST Premier Group C on November 2 where NiKo is expected to make his debut for the team.

With these changes, G2’s current CS:GO roster is as follows:

  • Kenny “kennyS” Schrub
  • Audric “JaCkz” Jug
  • François “AmaNEk” Delaunay
  • Nemanja “nexa” Isaković
  • Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač
  • Nikola “NiKo” Kovač
  • Damien “maLeK” Marcel (coach)

Soon after NiKo’s departure, FaZe Clan also announced it was parting ways with the team’s coach, Janko “YNk” Paunović.

For a while now the team has been struggling with some recurring issues in and out of the game which I’ve done my best to try and amend but unfortunately without much success. Because of this, I feel that the best way to move forward is for the team and myself to part ways and, with NiKo going to G2, give the players and the organization the opportunity to get a new coach and IGL who can work on taking the team forward.

NiKo’s former teammates had great words for the team’s former in-game leader.
