The latest dev diary video for Frontier’s upcoming sport management game F1 Manager 2022 has dropped and gives players another behind-the-scenes look at the work the developers are making use of its official F1 license.

While management games of this sort are mostly known for their spreadsheets of numbers creating the story and gameplay, F1 Manager 2022 will provide a presentation that faithfully depicts the sport as you would expect when you watch a race weekend.

The 20 Formula 1 drivers from the 10 teams are all depicted in 3D models, with the face being captured by a 200-camera array to ensure realism. Williams Racing driver Alex Albon and Alfa Romeo F1 Team Orlen driver Zhou Guanyu shared some words on the dev diary, excited to see their video game counterparts coming to life.

But fans of the spreadsheets, good news, Frontier also has access to each driver’s data profile and even historical data points to further inform the simulation to be more accurate in depicting driver performance.

Plus, the developers also have access to historical data and broadcast footage to further help recreate the Formula 1 experience close to watching the grands prix live, but with you as team principal calling the shots of one of the teams.

Players can expect to manage the factory where you must research, develop and manufacture car upgrades (all while ensuring you are operating under the budget cap) and go on-track and make strategic calls based on changing conditions. Red flags will be a thing, for example.

F1 Manager 2022 will be out on August 30 for the PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
